A day of prep

Saturday. Colder with some possibility of moisture. Settling down to C S Lewis. Last part of Faculty Commons Mid-Year conference pre-work. I know it’s going to be good. Just long. Videos. Notes. Reading.

The first part of my assignment shares this: In C.S. Lewis’ essay “The Weight of Glory“ he writes, “Do you think I am trying to weave a spell? Perhaps I am; but remember your fairy tales. Spells are used for breaking enchantments as well as for inducing them. And you and I need the strongest spell that can be found to wake us from the evil enchantment of worldliness which has been laid upon us for nearly a hundred years. Almost our whole education has been directed to silencing this shy, persistent, inner voice; almost all our modern philosophies have been devised to convince us that the good of man is to be found on this earth.”

And then, “Let’s consider how Lewis utilizes “imagination” to capture believers’ hearts for the gospel, and to paint beautiful pictures of the gospel to unbelievers.”

Very well. Let’s do it…

Gave the calves another bale of hay and they have plenty of water. And they seem happy.

I miss our kids who are away at college. Glad for the younger ones still here. All is well.
