Rain and great yesterdays
We need rain. Bad. Got a little shower this morning early. Wet the top side of the fence rails. Was nice. A chance this afternoon. Looks like you’d think we’d get a little…

… and we did! Two good showers. Can’t measure because the gauge had gotten so dry and brittle that it broke. I need to get another one. And I will, one of these days.
I know it’s just the middle of February and many people are still in the throes of winter. We’re likely to get some more cold days here in South Texas before spring gets full sprung but the water on ground is important for when the grass wants to come up. which could be any day. We’ve been up to the 80’s some days.
I’m reminded that there’s just some things that we can’t control. Like when it rains. Or how people respond to the Good News. Or show up to appointments. Or keep their word. We just can’t control the weather or people’s hearts.
No matter how much we’d like to.
But there are things we can control.
Like what we eat and how much time we spend reading and studying and thinking about the scriptures.
Or the way we treat people and make the best use of our time so that we’re ready when it does rain.
Makes me think about an idea I heard in an entrepreneurial conversation. it was about creating great yesterdays. What are the things today that set up tomorrow best. If I’ll focus my energy on those things, I will have made a great yesterday for tomorrow.
Because when we’re exposed by time, which we will be, we want to make sure that we have done our very best.
When it rains and how much we can’t control. Making great yesterdays we can.
