Base Camp is where we dream of the chase. The hunt. The adventure. The marvelous feat to accomplish.
It’s where we mend from the last time, sew up holes in our socks and shirts, gear up, and get ready to go again.
Base Camp is for celebrating, story telling, and remembering.
It’s where the coffee is strong enough, but not too strong, and the fire’s just right.
It’s where the books are easy to find, the dog naps on the rug, and that old sweater (the one with the tear on the back from that durned droopy barbed wire on the South East fence line) still feels just right.
It’s where things are comfortable and mostly safe… because where we’re going isn’t.
I believe that life is meant to be lived “out there.” I’m not sure where “out there” is on your map, but I bet you do.
Because everyone is born to grow and expand. We’re raw material. What we do with that raw material is up to us… and only up to us. It doesn’t matter where we’re born or how we grew up or what possibilities we have locally. We all have the opportunity to reckon with ourselves. To understand our circumstances. To embrace that every single person’s story is unique.
There is no one else in the world like you. You are unique. If you can dream, you can chart the course to make that dream reality. That applies to you and everyone else. So it makes no good sense to ever compare yourself with anyone else.
You pursue the life you want.
Base Camp isn’t for the faint of heart. They don’t make it this far. But it is for the dreamers, explorers, risk takers. Those who are ready to get in there and try.
It will require learning new skills, expanding your capabilities, hard work, and taking on some additional risk. That’s what separates you from others… how you choose to respond to your circumstances.
Living the journey and embracing the moments with the people we call family is at the heart of who we are and helping others do the same is our mission.
We want to inspire people to live their journeys and embrace their moments as they discover their own paths and push their own boundaries, whatever they may be.
Base Camp is where the journey begins.
