The Lord is my shepherd
This year’s lambs are here. Two lambs. Junior always seemed so lonely.
Sheep are social. I had no idea until we had one.
This time, I’d like us to pay more attention to how they learn our voices. It will be a neat experiment.
I am focusing my Bible reading this year on three books: John, 2 Peter, and The Psalms. reading these three over and over has been good. And there is a bunch about sheep and shepherds. A bunch.
The more time I spend around sheep, the better these passages stand out. I’m no expert on this, but I’ve been thinking a lot about it. Our relationship with Jesus is much like that of sheep and their shepherd.
And no, my experience is not that sheep are dumb. I mean, yeah, they’re animals, and they do dumb things, but so do cattle, and horses, and dogs, and pigs, and I expect camels do too, even though I don’t have any experience with camels.
Sheep learn voices. And they know their own shepherd.
