Puppies are cute, fun, and a bunch of work. Daisy is all that and more. I’m not sure we were ready for her, yet here she is sneaking her way into our family, one chewed on boot at a time.
This sabbatical journey has taken an unexpected turn. I went in excited, energized, and with a plan. I had it all broken down. There was no way this time was going to get away from me. And then I got sick. Nothing like feeling awful for days on end to chip away at moral. It’s been awhile since I’ve felt that bad for that long. And I’m still not completely over it. But I am up and going again. Physically, I’m way better. Mentally, not so much. But my glass will fill up again soon. In the meantime… well, it’s one day at a time. I’ll tell myself what I know is true. Like the fact that God is good. And He loves me. And He won’t leave me. Whether I’ve got it all together, or not. Whether I’m producing, or not.

For some reason, she chose me.
2. Grace
I have no illusions that I deserve the good things that happen. Hope. Family. Partners. Mission. Forgiveness.
3. For the light at the end of the tunnel. I know it’s there. And I believe that I will see it soon.
What am I learning
I don’t like being “down.” This is the second time in a row when I’ve gotten sick (the last time was a hard case of Covid in 2021) and found myself dragging bottom emotionally. I’ve accepted that I’m up and down, and have learned to stay up while minimizing the downturns. But sometimes it just happens. And days can go by. And I don’t like it. But I don’t know how to fix it. Maybe I can’t fix it. Maybe I just need to have it fixed.
The Lord says in Matthew 11:28 and 29, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

1. Clean out the garage and build additional shelves
2. Finish yard fence
3. Significant connection with God
